Built by a local who got tired of ten tabs.
Boulder Creek Local exists to make dependable local information easy to find, easy to trust, and easy to keep current.
Why this exists
It started with a childcare search.
When our baby arrived and my return to work started counting down, I went looking for infant care and found almost nothing to look at. The valley's providers are real, and some are wonderful, but most have no website and no active social media, so as far as the internet is concerned they barely exist. I found our spot the old mountain way: through word of mouth, one recommendation at a time, while the clock ran.
Somewhere in those conversations it clicked that this valley solves most of its problems the same way, and that somebody should start writing the answers down. This site is me writing the answers down.
Who's behind it
Born here. Still here.
I'm Adrienne. I was born and raised in Boulder Creek and never really left: my partner and I are raising our family here on a small homestead with chickens, ducks, one opinionated goose named Lucy, dogs, cats, and a garden that wins some years and loses others. I've swum in the river at Junction Park since before I could ride a bike, and these days I get to watch the next generation discover the same sandy beach.
I believe in shopping local and in the businesses that keep a small town running, and I believe information about this town should be as easy to find as the town is easy to love.
The mission
Reduce friction. Strengthen local connection.
Residents shouldn't need ten tabs to check conditions, find a service, or learn what's happening. Visitors should have enough context to arrive prepared and respectful.

Every page should help someone answer a real question or take a clear next step.
Source-aware
Time-sensitive information points back to the responsible agency or organizer, with the date we checked it.
Open to correction
Local information changes. There's always a simple way to flag an update, and corrections make the site better.
Independence
Listings are not endorsements.
Nobody pays to be listed here, and nobody can pay their way out of a correction. Boulder Creek Local may eventually support itself through clearly labeled sponsorships, commerce, or services. Paid relationships will not quietly determine factual status information or correction decisions.
