Treetop Pilates: The Classical Studio on Forest Street
Treetop Pilates is the studio with the actual apparatus in it. Reformer, tower, Cadillac, chair, barrels, mats: the full classical setup, in a room on Forest Street, half a block off Central Avenue.
That matters because Pilates on a mat and Pilates on a reformer are different experiences. The springs do half the work of teaching your body where it's supposed to be, and there's no substitute for a machine when you're learning the shape of a movement.
What's offered
Three formats. Mat classes are the entry point, done without springs so the body creates its own resistance, with props like magic circles, foam rollers, and physio balls added in. Up to eight people.
Tower classes combine the tower's springs with mat work and cap at three people, which is close to private instruction with company.
Machine classes use any and all of the apparatus. You book those as a private (one student, 55 minutes), a duet, or a trio for two or three people working at similar levels with one instructor.
The studio recommends starting one-on-one. There's a $45 introductory assessment and a three-session intro package at $175, both meant to establish what you're working with before you join a group. Preregistration is required for every class, private or group.
Prices
Mat classes are $18 a session, or $150 for a ten-pack. Tower classes are $25, or $220 for ten. Private machine sessions are $80, or $750 for ten. Duets are $55 each, trios $42. There's also a flex card: spend $300 or more up front and take any class at the ten-pack rate.
Packages expire after four months, introductory offers after one, and none of them transfer to another person. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice or the session is charged. Refer a friend who buys a ten-pack and you get 10 percent off your next one.
Confirm the current figures when you book. The studio's published price list has been up a while.
Who teaches
Tammy Ogletree founded Treetop Pilates in 2017 and teaches classical Pilates. The studio's whole pitch is individual attention: small caps, one instructor, and sessions built around what a particular body can do rather than a set routine.
