What happened to Boulder Creek Pizza & Pub
Boulder Creek Pizza & Pub had been downtown since 2012. When it closed in May 2026, nineteen people lost their jobs.
Owner Justin Acton is a Ben Lomond resident who led the Boulder Creek Business Association, served with Rotary, and sat on the Mountain Parks Foundation board. He was seriously injured in December 2025 when a drunk driver struck him outside his home, and the business couldn't carry on through such a long recovery. The shop gave the community more than pizza. Its kitchen supported school fundraisers, fed the fire department, and helped make Grad Night happen year after year. Boulder Creek got a lot of dinners from that oven, along with years of service. Justin and everyone who kept the shop going deserve the town’s gratitude and respect.
The closest thing to pizza night: Fridays in Ben Lomond
Coffee Nine at 9505 Highway 9 in Ben Lomond holds C9 Pizza Nights every Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Its page lists “fresh, handcrafted pizzas, crisp salads, and a full lineup of beer, wine, and ice-cold drinks.” You can eat dinner there or take it home.
For a Boulder Creek family, this is the shortest pizza drive on the list. It also feels more like a valley pizza night than an errand.

A note on La Placa
La Placa Bakery in Ben Lomond has sold take-and-bake pizzas for years, and plenty of local customers still make the drive for them. The bakery is closing its Ben Lomond location in early August 2026 and moving to Scotts Valley.
Check its location before you go so you don't make a wasted trip. The Ben Lomond closure is a real loss for the valley. La Placa will still be worth visiting at its new address once it opens.
